FORD FOCUS ST CLUSTER PROBLEM.
Usual problem with these units is that cheap solder was used at the factory.
Over heat cycles of many years, the colder cracks on the multipin PCB connector causing an open circuit on the CAN-BUS network.
The cluster forms part of the vehicles immobiliser system and this is inhibited as the cluster will not be seen on the network by the other ECU’s on the vehicle.
We completely removed the old poor quality solder from the whole board and reflowed with fresh, good quality lead free solder.
