TOYOTA AYGO CLUSTER INDICATOR LIGHTS NOT WORKING.

This problem occurs in the Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 vehicles.

No tell tale indicator lights are illuminated on the cluster display.

TOYOTA AYGO CLUSTER INDICATOR LIGHTS NOT WORKING.

The usual problem of extremely poor quality solder, many heat cycles and vibration cause hairline cracks in the solder joints.

All of the old solder was removed and completely reflowed using quality solder.

Care must be taken during teardown as there are many VERY thin plastic trim pieces that are easily broken or damaged.

Also, the LCD screen needs to be desoldered from the PCB for it to be removed from the casing. This screen is easily damaged from applying pressure to the front of the screen, or twising the pins on the reverse.

The absolute upmost care must be taken when separating the PCB from the carrier. It’s held in on one side with a vertical connector and is a very tight fit.

Once the board was reflowed, the cluster was reassembled and bench tested. These are analogue only clusters, no testing with diag is possible, so power needs to be applied on the led (or led pins) to check operation.
